geboren 1975 in Saseni-Calarasi/ Moldawien, ist Literaturwissenschaftlerin und Schriftstellerin und lebt in Bukarest. Sie veröffentlichte sechs Romane, ein Theaterstück und mehrere Bücher über die Zensur der Literatur im kommunistischen Rumänien. Sie wurde als Schriftstellerin in Deutschland, Österreich, Frankreich und Polen ausgezeichnet. Der Roman Der erste Horizont meines Lebens (Originaltitel Kinderland) erschien im Herbst 2013 im Zsolnay Verlag.

She studied from 1992 to 1997 at the faculty for philology at the State University of Moldova in Chişinău; from 1997 to 2001 she did her doctorate in humanistic sciences (Philology) at the University of Bucharest. Author of six novels: Negrissimo, 2003 (awarded in Moldova and Romania), A Year in Paradise, 2005 (translated into Italian, 2009 and German, 2011), Kinderland, 2013 (translated into German and Slovenian, 2015, bestseller at the 2013 Bookfest Book Fair, awarded the Radio Romania Cultural Prize for Prose, 2014 and the Crystal Prize at the Vilenica International Festival in Slovenia, 2014), The Empire of the Spinsters, 2015, Censor’s Notebook, 2017, The end of the road, 2018. She has written a theatrical monologue in three acts : Censorship for Beginners (Thanhauser, Ottensheim, Austria, 2014). She wrote and edited volumes dedicated to Romanian interwar novel, anticommunist Romanian exile, Bucovina People deported in Siberia, communist censorship. She has been awarded writer’s residencies in Germany, Austria, France and Poland.
